Advent Lutheran's Community Garden is an effort to provide fresh, healthy, locally grown food for those who are hungry in our community. Church members volunteer to plant and care for fruits and vegetables throughout the spring, summer, and fall. The community is welcome to plant and harvest in selected areas as well. Any food not harvested from the community is then harvested by church members and donated to GAP Ministries. GAP Ministries provides food weekly to those in need.

The purposes of the garden are:

  • to bring together church members from all generations - preschool to seniors;
  • to strengthen relationships among church members and the community;
  • to ensure access to fresh, healthy, locally grown food for local persons in need;
  • provide open garden spaces for others to use that may not have space at their place of residence;
  • to offer opportunities to learn gardening skills through hands-on experience, seminars and / or presentations;
  • to care for God's creation as good stewards of the earth. To utilize organic and sustainable gardening practices.
Anyone can work, plant, or harvest anything from the Garden. For any questions about the garden, you can email the church at advluch@adventaugusta.org.
